Our church is about teaching the Word . Teaching from the Word how to live Godly. To give glory, praise and thanks to God, Jesus and Holy Spirit and yes, from the Word how to be ready for Jesus Christ return. Mat. 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: (KJV) See 'We Believe.'
Our church is about children and young people. Their knowledge of and relationship with the trinity is just as important as ours. They are also the light of the world and are special to Jesus. We are blessed with teachers who are spiritual and knowledgeable of God's Word and can convey the Word in a way young minds can understand and enjoy. We include our children in regular services and also have a children sabbath. Mat. 19:14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (NIV).
Our church is about community. February 2017 we started a food distribution to our community. It now includes personal items and we distribute Commodity Service Food Program boxes to the eligible senior in our community. . Our organizer is in much prayer that it be God's will that space be made for clothing. We have held financial classes, hosted evangelism series and there are plans for more and bible study series.. Although we are small in numbers we believe Jesus is leading us . Mat. 18:20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. " (KJV)
The world's acknowledgement of Jesus Christ has greatly eroded. We as members of the Hillsborough SDA Church stand on the Word of God and teach Rom. 12:2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (KJV)
We are living in the last days (yes we are) however, we live for tomorrow. We are by God's grace through others have been given the wherewithal to do a right now remodeling of the church. We also have in place ground preparation for adding on to our church building to be ready for those souls that God will provide before the great falling away.
Mark 2:17 When Jesus heard it, He said to them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”(NKJ)
A BIT OF HISTORY: Naydene told her daddy, Belford Ray and family about land for sale at the Ray Family Reunion. They all were interested in having a church in Hillsborough. Her dad the eldest of eleven children grew up in Hillsborough with no church. They attended church in Durham, 12 miles away. That was a long trip in a T-Model Ford.
Eleven members in the Durham Church lived in Hillsborough and decided to start a church group. Ralph and Brenda Cool helped get things started. Pastor Gerald Mobley helped in planning and held the first sermon. Hillsborough SDA first service was held in Claude and Naydene Ray Walker’s basement. The Ray family donated thousands of dollars the first years to get started. Dr. Claudis Ray and Mervin Ray donated large sums.
A double wide mobile home was moved on the land March 1989. Claudis Ray donated the money to pay off mortgage debt. The mortgage was burned on March 18, 1995. Claudis Ray bought the sanctuary furniture and paved the parking lot.
The church family had many struggles and grew slow. Naydene has made three photo albums that covers start to now, 2014 giving history spectrum. Ten of the very first members are deceased. Claude and Naydene was 88, 91 respectfully at the 25th church anniversary celebration on June 7, 2014. They continued to be active until 2016. We miss their presents very much.
